The To Do App Quest

Personal organization is something I’ve been on a quest for I don’t know how many years.  I’ve tried many different to do apps and systems but I still haven’t found “the one”.

Lately, I’ve been using the a 30 day challenge by Chalene Johnson for goal setting and planning but then I seem to fall short when it comes to the app that I carry around with me.  When I first started the challenge, it was before apps synced too much with the other devices in my life.  But now I want more.

When I had an iPhone there was an app that was pretty good that allowed me to keep different lists but I don’t have an iPhone any more.  The to do app I do miss from my iPhone is Carrot.  It will insult you for not doing enough.  Quite fun but they don’t have an Android version.  (I’ve asked them several times, but no dice.)

I like a fun app and I am currently using Habitica’s HabitRPG for a to do list.  I like the kitsch of it and getting “points” is always fun.  The interface on both my phone and the computer is pretty good but it doesn’t give me the ability to make several lists (that I have found so far) but I like the idea of going on “quests” and the way I defeat the dragon/monster/big boss is by killing items off my to do list.  It also helps with making good habits or breaking bad one.  Plus, the avatar has armor and a mount.  It’s a free app and is available for both the iPhone and Android.

What I want is something that has the kitsch and the game feeling but I also need the ability to have several lists and be able to access it on both my computer and phone.

Running two separate to do lists is the opposite of efficiency.  I think I’m going to “audition” a few apps in the mean time.  Toodledo, Wunderlist and Google Keep are three I’m willing to try.  Hey, they’re free so why not?  I have a few more to try out as well but I can’t test them all out at once.

If I find the “perfect” app to keep me on task but with the right amount of whimsy, I’ll make sure to post it.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a fun to do app?
